Before starting
- A Suntaic Hero or Rack inverter in operation.
- A USB charger and a power socket nearby.
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi where the inverter is.
1. Two ports, one for us
Under the inverter you will find two communication ports: RS485, which talks to the lithium battery, and RS232. Leave RS485 connected to the battery. MoniWatt for Suntaic uses RS232.
2. Connect the box
Plug the supplied cable into the RS232 port and into the box. Connect the box to USB-C power. The screen lights up.
Everything happens on the low-voltage communication port. Never open the inverter.
3. Join your Wi-Fi
From your phone, join the Wi-Fi network created by the box. The setup page opens: choose your home network and set a password for the dashboard.
4. Compare with the inverter screen
Open http://moniwatt.local and scroll through the inverter screen at the same time. Battery voltage, PV power and output should match.
A holiday home?
Switch on the remote dashboard in the settings and link the box to your account. You will be able to check the installation from anywhere and receive an e-mail if the box stops reporting, for example after a long power cut.
If no values appear
- Check the cable is in RS232, not RS485.
- Make sure no other device (computer, USB cable) is connected to the inverter’s communication ports.
- Write to [email protected] with the model on the label.
